The Falls

We walked up to Bridal Veil with Danny's family for FHE on Monday night. The weather was perfect! Wyatt hopped right into the water but Eva preffered to sit next to the water and suck on all the rocks. Towards the end Wyatt's feet were getting sore from stepping on all the sharp little rocks so I gave him flip flops to wear, as you can see in the bottom middle pic. I'm sure he would have stayed in the FREEZING water all night if we had let him. :)

Outsmarted

Wyatt has been spending a lot of time riding his bike back and forth in front of our house lately. Most of his time, actually. The other day he asked to go out while I was making lunch. Since I couldn't go out with him I told him he had to stay in front of the house where I could see him. After he'd been outside for a couple of minutes, I realized that I couldn't hear him anymore and went out to check on him. He was nowhere to be seen so I yelled his name and he came pedaling around the corner at the end of our street. I walked down to meet him and told him that he wasn't allowed to take his bike past the corner and turned around to go back home when he stopped me with a question.

him: What's a corner?

me: This right here, where the sidewalk turns. It's called a corner. You aren't allowed to take your bike past this spot, okay?

him: Okay.

I then followed him back to the house where I went back inside to finish lunch and wake up Eva. While getting Eva in her chair, I realized that I couldn't hear Wyatt so I went out to check on him, only to find him gone again. I walked out to the sidewalk and noticed his bike parked at the corner without him. I walked down to his bike and found him a couple of houses past the corner.

me: Wyatt! Get back here right now!

him: Coming, Mom.

me: I told you not to go past the corner, didn't I?

him: You told me not to take my bike past the corner.

And yes, that is exactly what I told him.

First Hairdo

I know it's hard to see, but I actually DID Eva's hair for the first time! She doesn't have a whole lot to work with, but I parted it on the side, pulled the other side back with a flower barrette and then added some gel so it would curl. I love it!

Wyatt's Birthday

To preface the pictures to come I have a little story. About 2 months ago (right after Eva's birthday), Wyatt informed me that he was getting a Kawasaki for his b-day. I jokingly asked him who was getting it for him, and he promptly replied "Grandpa". If any of you know Grandpa O, you can understand why this isn't all that surprising. Wyatt has been bringing home Dirt Bike magazine from Grandpa's house for months. We read them quite often and he's very protective of them. I'm not allowed to touch them or throw them out without his permission. He can also tell you what make a motorcycle is by the color. Anyway, after Wyatt told me he was getting a Kawasaki he then told everyone else that we came in contact with, including the librarian, checkers at the grocery store, neighbors and last, but not least, Grandpa. When Grandpa asked him if he wanted a small one, Wyatt shook his head and said, "No, I want a big one just like yours." Wyatt didn't seem to think there was going to be any problem with this. About a month after he made this decision, we went for a visit to G & G O's. As I was parking the car, Wyatt gasped quite loudly. I asked what was wrong and he said "Look, Mom. It's my birthday! Grandpa got me my Kawasaki!" I glanced up and noticed that the garage doors were open and Wyatt could see all the bikes parked inside. I had to tell him that those bikes weren't for him but were Grandpa's. I was little worried that he'd be upset but he just told me it was okay because he would still get one for his birthday. So to get to the point, we found a lime green bike, which the granparents purchased, stripped all the stickers off of and replaced them with Kawasaki ones. Grandpa was a little worried that Wyatt wouldn't fall for the small pedal bike in the place of a large, real motorcycle, but Wyatt LOVED it! He's spent the majority of every day since his b-day riding his bike and if he's not riding it then he's asking to ride it. :) (I'm not sure why I even bothered with any other gifts.) Sorry the pictures aren't that great. Wyatt wouldn't hold still long enough for a clear one.

Jump

This is what happens everytime I turn any music on. Eva will even dance if you just sing or hum. It cracks me up!

I took the kids to the airshow this weekend. Danny had lots of homework and a test to do so we decided to get out of his hair for a couple of hours. We went with Dusty, Julie, Kurt and Becca and her kids. The crowds and traffic on the base was a little crazy, but seeing Wyatt's face when he saw the planes

The Thunderbirds did a show and it was AMAZING! Wyatt plugged his ears whenever it got too loud but didn't take his eyes off them. Eva was clapping and cheering and pointing the whole time. There were a couple times I was even scared by how loud they were! If you have a chance to see them, I'd say go for it. Totally worth the wait and crowds.

We waited in line for over an hour to go in the cockpit of this huge transport plane. I would not normally stand in line that long but we had a great view of the show and we were in the shade. I didn't get to go in the cockpit because I waited with Eva and the stroller, but Wyatt was very impressed.

James and Wyatt with one of the pilots. As you can see by the look on Wyatt's face, he was very excited about the pilot. He started asking him all sorts of questions, half of which the pilot didn't understand. The pilot just smiled and answered as best he could.

I never seem to take pictures with Eva and Wyatt in them because Eva is always in the stroller, so I made I got at least one of them this time.

Wading Pools

We took the kids to a park in town that has wading pools and fountains today.  We weren't sure the pools would be full so we didn't put them in swimsuits, but that didn't slow either one of them down.  We stayed at the park for at least an hour and both kids were pretty tired on the way home and went to bed early.  My kind of Saturday!

Self-Sufficient

We finally did it!  After years of talking about planting a garden, we actually managed to get it done.  We started work on it over a month ago and finished planting this last Monday. We have tomatoes, bell peppers, pumpkin, squash, zucchini, onions and cucumbers. We had Wyatt help with the planting but he didn't quite seem to understand that it will take time for the plants to grow.  He's been very helpful with watering, and checking and waiting. He's just really excited to get a pumpkin for Halloween. Hopefully he'll forget about the pumpkins soon so that I can stop answering questions every day. :) 

Introducing Trixie...

Yes, we got a bunnie.  Isn't she cute?  We picked her up yesterday and Wyatt has been talking about her non-stop.  He even named her all by himself.  We went through a couple names before deciding on Trixie, mostly because Wyatt wanted to give her a boy name.  His first choice was Speed Racer, and then Rex Racer.  But when it told him the bunnie needed a girl name, he chose Trixie.  If you haven't noticed, all the names are from Speed Racer.  We watch a lot of that in our house.  :)  Trixie will actually be living with Grandpa and Grandma O.  They'd like to teach their dogs to be nice to small animals and they already have a fenced of place for her to live and lots and lots of grass for her to eat.  She's just staying with us until next week when they get back from vacation.  If any of you would like to hold a bunnie, come on over!

Summertime...

We figured it was time to set up Eva's pool and see how the kids liked it.  It was a definite hit.  Eva only likes it when it's warm, but Wyatt will be play in it for hours, no matter how cold it is. We've spent every afternoon for the last week in the pool.  Not me of course, but Eva and (mostly) Wyatt and lots of the neighbor kids.  I have a strong feeling that we will be spending the majority of our summer in the pool. Best 10 dollars I've ever spent!
