Where do you belong?

Not sure I really agree with this. I can't say that I really loved the music, or clothing from that era, and I'm not much of a druggie so...

You Belong in 1969

You are a free spirit with a huge heart. Love, peace, and happiness rule - oh, and drugs too.

MmMmMmmm

Chocolate Zucchini Bread. Today is a good day. My house smells delicious, and I feel like I've actually accomplished something. Anyone want a piece?

Mamma Mia!

Saw "Mamma Mia!"last night with a girlfriend. Totally worth the money! The actors might not have been the best singers, but what they lack in talent they make up for in enthusiasm. I listened to ABBA as a kid (thanks mom and dad!), and so I knew most of the songs before even seeing the movie. I had to fight the urge to get up dance the whole time! The entire scooter ride home I was belting out ABBA songs. I'm sure the guy that past me on his motorcycle thought I was a total nut-job but I couldn't seem to help myself. This morning I pulled out my big CD holders and found all my ABBA CD's so that I could listen and sing all day long. Love it!

Things I've learned about Potty Training

1. Pull-ups don't work! They are just like another diaper, only more expensive. And the little pictures that disappear when they get wet...those don't work either. What 2 year old cares whether the stupid pictures on their diaper are there or not?

2. A child is never going to tell you he's ready. If I waited until my child came to me and said, "Mommy, I'm ready to be potty trained", he would probably go to kindergarten with diapers on.

3. I don't think it really matters what age you train them. I've been told numerous times that if I do it too early then my child will have a traumatic experience and be scarred for life. I don't really think the age matters so much as attitude. My attitude.

4. It's not just about the child being ready, it's also about the parent being ready. If I'm not willing to be patient and TEACH my child then the whole training thing isn't going to work. That's why it's called "potty training." Because I am the trainer!

5. Every child is different! What worked for you might not work for me. That doesn't have anything to do with age, just personality.

6. Being naked is okay. At home. In my home. Never on any furniture. And only as a punishment. My child prefers to have his lower regions covered, so being able to wear underwear is a reward and one that he picked up on very quickly.

7. Positive reinforcement! Chocolate works great.

8. I like not buying diapers.

9. I much prefer to have my child's anatomy called by the proper terms. Not winkey, wee wee, pee pee, thingy...

10. Potty training involves more than just teaching my child to use a toilet. I also have to teach him how to pull his pants up and down, undo buttons, wipe, flush, turn on the sink and use adequate amounts of soap.

And last but not least:

11. My little boy is growing up so fast and looks totally adorable in briefs!

The Wave

As most of you know Danny and I added an addition to our little family in the form of a scooter. Our first one was a chinese made scooter (not a good investment!). After weeks of problems and mechanics fees, we decided to sell it. We recently purchased a new one (NOT chinese made) and last Saturday Danny talked me into driving it from Orem to Payson on the back roads. I was a little nervous at first, but I love it! It's so exhilarating to have the wind in my hair! Danny followed me in the car until Springville and then he got on the freeway. I hooked up my iPod, cranked the tunes and was on my way! I figured since I was all alone and no one really drives with their windows down in the summer, then I was safe to sing my heart out without having to worry about anyone hearing. While belting out along with the Dixie Chicks, I rounded a curve and came upon 2 motorcycles, and this is what happened...

I got the official motorcycle wave! Yes, that's right. Maybe they waved because they heard my beautiful singing, or maybe they just really liked my gas-efficient scooter (yet to be named...). Either way, I gave them the wave back, all the while feeling like I was part of some secret club that had never been available to me before. Who could have guessed that high gas prices would have such an effect of my sheltered little life?

Dinner with Wyatt

This is what happens when we have pasta for dinner. Wyatt loves pasta, especially anything with red sauce. I'm sure Danny couldn't be happier about that. If we do end up in Italy like Danny is hoping, Wyatt will fit right in!
