Spring Cleaning

I know it's not really spring. I've just been feeling a little out of sorts the last couple of days and I needed a pick-me-up so I turned up the music, organized my troops, and we cleaned house. I feel much better now. The kids were worn out from "helping" me and are now napping. I'm snuggled on my couch with Lappy enjoying the sight of clean surfaces, vacuum lines in the carpet, the smell of pledge and complete silence.

And now on to Inkdeath (by Cornelia Funke) and possibly a small amount of sleep.

Christmas Eve!

Opening jammies at Jen's house before our white elephant gift exchange. Wyatt got Cars jammies (big surprise...) while the cutest thing we could find for Eva was a little pink sweat suit. Still adorable though, eh?

 

Let it snow!

It snowed and snowed and snowed! Danny came home from work a little early so he wouldn't have to drive in bad weather and lots of traffic. When he got here he decided to shovel the walks and got lots of help from Wyatt. Isn't Eva cute in her pink snow clothes? (Thanks Katy!)

 

 

 

 

Aterwards

After it stopped snowing, Kyle and Gina came over and with Danny and Wyatt's help, they built a snow cave in the backyard. To pack it down the let Wyatt sled down the sides on a saucer he sled. He wrecked at the bottom every time and loved it! He thought crawling inside the snow was pretty cool and is still talking about it.

 

The Nativity

The Sunday before Christmas we all met at G & G O's house for a small rendition of the Nativity. Just a "few" of us showed up, see? Becca organized all the grandkids to take part in a puppet show with the family singing the hymns. Our family is awesome! (Still not sure how all of us fit into the living room!) There were so many of us that I had to take 2 pictures to fit us all!

 

 

Temple Square

We took our annual trip to Temple Square and it was freezing! We bundled up in our winter clothes (isn't Eva cute in her snow suit?) and drank lots of hot chocolate (from a sippy cup...). My favorite display is the small Nativity that is on the reflection pond. With the temple in the background it's beautiful.

 

G & G A's Family Party

The first family party of the season arrived and with it came The Grinch. Wyatt was a little scared at first but with some coaxing he sat on his lap for a few pictures. Eva didn't seem to mind all that much (meaning she didn't show any emotion). It was nice to see the family that we only see once a year! Wyatt and Eva also got their gifts from Great-Grandma A since we don't see her on Christmas day. Wyatt got a small dump truck which he now refers to as "the baby dump truck" since he also has a large one.

 

Skipping

Growing up I watched a lot of musicals.   Some of favorite my movies are musicals that I watched a lot as a child.  For instance:  Singing in the Rain, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Annie, Sound of Music, Mary Poppins and The Muppet Christmas Carol.  I love each one of these movies, but have one teeny, tiny problem with them.  It seems that every musical I've ever seen has to have one song that is fast-forward worthy.  I'm sure that most you reading this (at least my family) know which songs I'm talking about.  If I remember correctly, most of these songs are sad, except maybe Climb Every Mountain from Sound of Music.  Something about disliking these songs when I was young makes it hard for me to like them now.  If I watch any of these movie I still find myself fast-forwarding these particular numbers or at least laughing my way through them.  Of all these dreadful songs there is one that tops my list of least favorites.  And since it is the season of giving, I thought I would give you each the gift of this song.  Hopefully it gets stuck in your head like it is stuck in mine right now!

Christmas is Coming...

On Saturday Danny's work had a special visit from Santa.  Wyatt sat in his lap and told him that he wanted Thomas (the train) and that he was excited for Christmas.  I wasn't sure he was going to sit with Santa since last year he just cried.  But he did great!  We've been talking about Santa prepping him for about a week, so I guess it worked.  Afterword we went to Thanksgiving Point to meet two on Santa's Reindeer.  Since none of us had ever seen one, it was fun.  Danny tried to feed them but they weren't interested at all.  And a bonus to all this is that it was FREE!  And we didn't' have to stand in any lines to see Santa.
